A little local history

Krk was settled in antiquity and became a Roman town, later a bishopric and for a long period the seat of the Frankopan family, one of the most powerful noble houses in Croatia. The island is closely associated with the Glagolitic script — the Baška tablet, one of the oldest surviving monuments of the Croatian language, was found at Jurandvor near Baška.
