Why explore Šibenik by boat?
Šibenik sits at the mouth of the Krka river, entered through a narrow channel that opens into a wide natural harbour. That setting gives boating here an unusual range: the Šibenik archipelago and the Kornati lie to seaward, while Krka National Park and its waterfalls lie inland, where navigation is restricted by the park authority. Zlarin, Prvić and Krapanj are all short runs from the city quay.

A little local history
Šibenik is first mentioned in the 11th century in connection with the Croatian king Petar Krešimir IV, making it the oldest native Croatian town on the Adriatic. It later spent centuries under Venetian rule, during which the cathedral was built and a ring of fortresses raised against Ottoman advances from inland.
