Why explore Omiš by boat?
Omiš sits where the Cetina river cuts through the mountains and meets the sea, a dramatic setting with cliffs directly behind the town. Boating here combines a long beach coastline, the Brač channel and, just inland, the river canyon — a very different landscape from the open Adriatic.

A little local history
Omiš is best known as the base of the Omiš pirates, medieval Adriatic corsairs who used the river mouth and the fortresses above it to control this stretch of coast and challenge Venetian shipping for generations. The two fortresses, Mirabela and Starigrad, date from that era.
