A little local history
Biograd was a royal seat of the medieval Croatian kings and briefly a coronation town, before being destroyed by Venice in the late 12th century — little of the medieval settlement survived. Rebuilt as a fishing and farming community, it spent the following centuries in the Venetian orbit like the rest of northern Dalmatia.
