Why explore Murter by boat?
Murter is the closest inhabited island to the Kornati archipelago, and much of the Kornati land has historically been owned by families from the island. That makes it the natural launching point for a Kornati day: the crossing is shorter here than from anywhere else on the coast.

A little local history
Murter's settlements grew from farming and fishing communities, and from the 16th century onwards islanders acquired land in the Kornati, building the stone cottages that still dot the archipelago. Betina became known for wooden boatbuilding, particularly the gajeta, a craft recognised as part of Croatia's intangible heritage.
